The crane hook is a critical component of lifting machinery and is typically classified according to the materials used, manufacturing processes, applications, and other relevant factors.

Crane hooks of different types may vary in shape, manufacturing process, operating methods, or other characteristics. Typically, these various types of crane hooks are designed to meet diverse application requirements, rated loads, dimensions, and classification standards.

Common types of crane hooks:

Single hook and double hook
Forged hooks and laminated hooks
Closed and Semi-Closed Hooks
Electric Rotating Hook

I. Single Hooks and Double Hooks
As the names suggest, the main difference between these two types lies in the number of hooks.

1. Single hook:
When the lifting load does not exceed 75 tons, a single-hook configuration is suitable and easy to use.

2. Double hook:
When the lifting load exceeds 75 tons, a double-hook configuration is recommended, as it offers a higher load capacity.

II. Forged Hooks and Laminated Hooks
The primary difference between forged hooks and laminated hooks lies in their manufacturing processes.

1. Forged hook
The forged hook is manufactured from a single piece of high-quality low-carbon steel; after slow cooling, it achieves excellent stress resistance, typically ranging from 16Mn to 36MnSi.

2. Mezzanine Hook
Their manufacturing process is slightly more complex than that of forged hooks; they are constructed from several steel plates riveted together, offering superior stress resistance and enhanced safety. Even if certain components of the hook are damaged, the device can continue to operate. Users can select either a single or a pair of layered hooks depending on their specific needs.

III. Closed-Style Hooks and Semi-Closed-Style Crane Hooks
When users need to select accessories for hoisting hooks, they can opt for closed‑type or semi‑closed‑type crane hooks, ensuring a smooth and safe lifting operation.

1. Closed-type hook
Accessories for enclosed‑type crane hooks are relatively more difficult to use and time‑consuming, but they also offer superior safety performance and higher load‑bearing capacity.

2. Semi-enclosed hook
This hook is safer than a standard hook and easier to install and remove than a closed‑type hook.

IV. Electric Rotating Hook

The electric rotary hook is a precision device that enhances the maneuverability and operational efficiency of cranes during container lifting and transportation. As it rotates during operation, it helps maintain cargo stability, even when multiple containers are moved simultaneously in confined spaces. These hooks are not only easy to operate but also highly efficient.
