GREENPIN High-Strength Shackle – Original Dutch‑Made Heavy-Duty Lifting Shackle, a Safe Connecting Component for Heavy‑Load Hoisting

GREENPIN is a subsidiary of the Dutch Van Beest Group. Since 1922, it has been dedicated to the research, development, and manufacturing of high‑end lifting slings and rigging hardware, establishing itself as a benchmark shackle brand in the global heavy‑load lifting industry. Its products are widely used in demanding applications such as wind power, offshore engineering, port terminals, heavy equipment, steel structures, and marine and offshore vessels. With proven reliability and comprehensive certifications, GREENPIN has become the preferred connection component for major domestic and international engineering projects.

GREENPIN shackles are forged as a single piece from high‑strength alloy steel and undergo a full quenching and tempering heat treatment. The product line includes D‑shaped (straight) shackles, bow shackles, BigMouth wide‑opening shackles, Power‑Sling heavy‑duty shackles, Polar low‑temperature shackles, ROV subsea remote‑controlled shackles, and more—covering an extensive load range from 0.33 t to 1,500 t. These products meet the demanding requirements of diverse applications, such as conventional lifting, multi‑leg slinging, wide‑span attachment points, extreme cold environments, and underwater ROV operations on the seabed.

Reliable materials and craftsmanship

Forged from Grade 8 high-strength alloy steel and subjected to full‑through tempering, the body is hot‑dip galvanized for corrosion resistance. It exhibits excellent impact and fatigue resistance, capable of withstanding high‑frequency cyclic lifting operations. The Polar series maintains material toughness even in ultra‑low temperatures as low as –60°C, effectively eliminating the risk of brittle fracture at subzero conditions.

Multi-layered security architecture design

It is available in two main designs: bolt‑pin with split pin, and threaded‑pin with quick‑release assembly. The bolt‑pin version features a dual‑lock system—nut plus split pin—to prevent accidental loosening. The Power‑Sling series optimizes the crown curvature and the D/d ratio to reduce wire‑rope crushing and wear, thereby lowering sling procurement costs. The Catch fall‑protection model supports tethering of components, helping to mitigate the risk of falling objects from height.

Comprehensive international certification and traceability

Compliant with the EN 13889 standard for lifting shackles, certified by DNV‑GL and ABS classification societies, and supported by material certificates for grades 2.1, 2.2, and 3.1, as well as CE certification; it also supports RFID‑based traceability with a unique code per item, enabling digital tracking of equipment inspections and lifecycle management, thereby meeting the audit requirements of heavy‑industry and offshore engineering projects.

Complete specifications and stable supply.

Standard D‑type and bow shackle shackles (G‑4161, G‑4163, G‑4151) are kept in stock, while oversized‑opening, high‑capacity, and ROV‑specific custom models are also available to meet a wide range of lifting and connection requirements.

Main application scenarios

Heavy‑load lifting and rigging applications, including wind turbine nacelle erection, offshore platform and subsea operations, port handling, heavy‑equipment relocation, steel‑structure construction, shipbuilding and repair, construction machinery, mining projects, and polar‑region low‑temperature operations.

Selection Tips

Type D shackle: Suitable for unidirectional loading, compact and efficient, with lifting points connected directly;

Bow shackle: It can withstand multidirectional lateral loads and is compatible with multi-leg slings, webbing slings, and wire rope combinations.
